Due to its 95% commonality with the A320 Family, Airbus’ A319neo jetliner fits seamlessly into the current A320 Family fleets worldwide – which is a key factor for the company’s customers and operators. The A319neo provides minimum change with maximum benefit for the A320 through incorporation of two new engine choices – the PurePower PW1100G-JM from Pratt & Whitney and the LEAP-1A from CFM International – along with fuel-saving Sharklet™ wingtip devices. It also shares a common type rating with other variants of the Airbus A320 Family, which allows existing A320 Family pilots to fly the aircraft without the need for further training.
Incorporating new engines and large Sharklet™ wingtip devices, Airbus’ A320neo Family – which includes the A319neo as its shortest-fuselage member – was designed to deliver fuel savings of 15 per cent. The Airbus A320neo product line also provides a significant reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.
The A319neo is a member of Airbus’ A320 Family, whose industry-leading quality and efficiency are being further enhanced with its new engine option (NEO) jetliner variants. Incorporating Airbus’ “Sharklets” and two new engine choices, the A320neo Family offers maximum benefit with minimal changes from baseline A319s, A320s and A321s – delivering per seat fuel improvements of 20%, along with additional range of up to 500 nautical miles/900 km. or 2 tonnes of extra payload. With the widest single-aisle cabin, all aircraft of the A320neo Family offer unmatched comfort across classes, while Airbus’ 18-inch-wide seats in economy come standard.
The smallest member of the A320neo Family, the A319neo performed its maiden flight in March 2017. With expanded seating capacity, optimised use of cabin space and increased exit limits, the aircraft can accommodate up to 160 passengers without compromising the comfort.
